Advice for customers in Stafford

The Fiveways team in Stafford have spoken of their surprise following the sudden closure of Swinton Insurance in the High Street.

Nick Anthony, Stafford branch manager, said customers had been coming into the offices with the news that Swinton had seemingly closed overnight.

He said: “As far as we can tell they were open last week and then this week the office was locked with a note on the door advising customers to call a national number.

“It’s never nice to see a town centre shop close down, and with Swintons closing this leaves just us and one other broker in the centre of Stafford now.”

Managing director of Fiveways, Nigel West, said he wanted to reassure customers that Fiveways would stay in the town.

“What I would say to people is, we are absolutely committed to maintaining our town centre presence in Stafford,” he said. “Having accessible town centre offices is at the heart of our business model, so we are very much here to stay.”

Nick Anthony said anyone worried about their existing insurance or who needed advice should call into the Fiveways offices as soon as they could.

“People may have seen in the national news that Swinton was looking to close 84 of its offices but I don’t think anyone knew which ones,” he said. “Everyone we have spoken to is surprised at how suddenly the Stafford branch closed - one minute it was open and now it’s in darkness with the doors locked.”
